CONFIRMED! Miss Universe pageant to be held in the Philippines

The announcement was made last July 28, 2016 by Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo where they held a press conference in Makati Philippines.
“I would like to inform everybody that the Miss Universe pageant will be on January 30, 2017 in the Philippines,” said Teo. “The government is not going to spend any single centavo. It will be the private sector who would shoulder the expenses.”
“Private sector will handle the expenses. The president’s concern was the expenses. But when we assured him that there will be no funding from the government. He said, okay. ‘This is already okay’ So we don’t know where the news report came from that he did not like it. He never said that,” Undersecretary Kat De Castro added when there’s a news circulating yesterday that the President allegedlyUniverseid know already.
“They got in touch with me this morning. Shawn McClain, who is the VP at Miss U, was shocked when that article came out because everyone was already on board. The article says the president doesn’t want it to happen,” De Castro said.
Teo said that she called Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to consult if her department can announce the news following some confusion surrounding Duterte’s earlier statement, saying “I wouldn’t want to spend on it.”
“I told [Medialdea], ‘Is it okay if we announce that the Miss Universe will be held in the Philippines, and he said yes,'” Teo said.
“We were planning to set up a press con for the announcement earlier, but I said, let us just wait said, let administrative order. But because of the news release, I said we should come out and announce,” Teo told reporters.
“The administrative order will be signed before the end of the month,” she added.
The Tourism chief confirmed that Japanese billionaire and chief of Tiger Resort, Kazuo Okada, as well as the country’s richest man, Henry Sy, are among them.
President Duterte met with officials of the Tiger Resort, Leisure, Entertainment Inc. led by Chairman Kazuo Okada, Executive, Assistant to the Chairman Sumire Kamura and Chief Operating Officer Takahiro Usui on July 18 at the Music Room in Malacañan Palace on July 18. Details of their conversation, however, were not disclosed.
The Miss Universe pageant was held twice already in the Philippines. First in 1974, when Miss Universe 1973 Margarita Moran crowned Amparo Muñoz of Spain. In 1994, Second, India’s Sushmita Sen was crowned by Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach will crown her successor in the Philippines.

Our Final Top Picks for Binibining Pilipinas 2016

For many weeks the girls did their best to impress everyone. It’s not an easy task to do that. A lot of sacrifices were made just to reach that ultimate dream. But not all of them will get to be crowned this coming Sunday, April 17. After all the pre pageant activities, here are my top choices for Binibining Pilipinas 2016.

Nicole Cordoves – She’s beautiful and can express herself well and besides she’s a speech writer to the secretary of Department of Finance is enough to prove that. Her body structure is proportional which an advantage because she looks a lot taller with her actual height. When she enter a room you can’t avoid but to look at her. A “Dyosa” in the making.  She’s perfect to represent the Philippines in Miss Universe pageant. She has that Miss Universe aura but she needs to work (a lot) on with her pasarela and stage presence. Definitely her weakness. Maybe a little bit of improvement on her personality and on her styling. She’s from Aces & Queens and I do believe they can work their magic on her and transform her. I mean A&Q track records are impressive so I have faith that they can do that with Nicole.

Maxine Medina – The most elegant and sophisticated candidate this year, that’s why she’s perfect for Miss International. I do believe that the Japanese would love her. I find her beauty and her walk expensive. She has that captivating aura that I love. Her oriental features is a plus. She need to tone her body and work on her personality a bit.

Dindi Pajares – Her pasarela and stage presence is her weapon. Great body, beautiful and I love her personality. For me she’s the one who’s enjoying (the most) every bit of the competition. She’s the type of a girl that would give a Latina a run for their money on the runway. A catwalk diva in short. She’s my choice for Miss Supranational.

Maria Gigante – Love her exotic look. A Pinay Barbie. Whenever this girl opens her mouth you would definitely listen to her. She’s the most articulate  girl this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if she will ace her Q & A comes the finals night. With all of those qualities I want her to compete in Miss Intercontinental and get that first crown for the Philippines. She needs to improve her styling and tone her body.

Nichole Manalo –  Her transformation was amazing. She’s a force to be reckoned with this year. Equipped with a beautiful face and a banging body, she’s definitely ready to compete abroad. If we want a back to back win in Miss Globe then she’s the right fit.

Kylie Verzosa – Beautiful and smart. You can feel that hunger to get a crown and I can feel that she will get one this year. She needs to relax a bit and enjoy the whole journey. Need to work on with her expressions, her smize is on point, but her smile sometimes a bit off. Fresh face, porcelain skin and with her elegance, I’m sure Nawat would love her. She’s perfect for Miss Grand International. She’s perfect to be that girl to give us the first crown for Grand International.

My runner ups for this year are Apriel Smith and Angelique De Leon. If there’s two more crowns at stake I would give it to them. These two would give the girls on my top list a run for their money. If these two will get a crown on Sunday I would be happy for them.

Completing my list for the Top 15 are Jehza Huelar, Paula Rich Bartolome, Joanna Eden, Anjellica Lopez, Angelica Alita, Jeslyn Santos, Ria Rabajante.

Bubbling up are Jennifer Hammond, Kimberle Penchon, Karen Ibasco, Jessica Gonzales and Jennyline Malpaya.

Dark horses this year are Paula Rich Bartolome and Angelica Alita. These two might pull a surprise on Sunday.

There you have it my Top Choices for Binibining Pilipinas 2016. Good luck ladies!
